Individual Psychotherapy

I offer an  individual psychoanalytical psychotherapy service to children and young people in Appleby Magna (Leicestershire)  and Nottingham City Centre.
Individual psychotherapy session offers child/young person confidential, safe, non-judgemental and respectful  space, where the child/young person can explore past and present experiences and make links between these and impact of them on their state of mind and behaviour. Most of the time children find easier to express their feelings, difficulties or confusions  through drawings or play using toys that I do provide. Teenagers usually talk about their feelings. I observe a child/young person and respond to what they might be communicating through their play and behaviour and help the child to have better understanding of themselves. This understanding helps the child/young person to develop different strategies for managing feelings and behaviour.
Therapy is most effective when a strong, trusting and consistent relationship exists between the therapist and the child/young person. Privacy and clear boundaries i.e. therapy sessions are always on the same day and time, are especially impotent in securing and maintaining that trust and consistency.

I work with:

  • Children (as young as 3 years old) and their parents
  • Young people
  • Young adults up to age 25
  • Parents, families, carers. Working and supporting child's environment i.e. parents, families, carers, I ensure that they have deeper understanding of child's  life experiences and impact of these on child's behaviour and understanding life in general.
